Our department works on above said motto and we inspire our students to bring their innovative thoughts about agriculture in realistic way. This approach makes our department different from those in other colleges in the area. We connect out students to land and lab. There are teachers for each specialization thus providing students the needful guidance for pursuing their careers in agriculture.
The department was established in year 2012. Well-equipped experiential learning units of the college help produce job providing, rather than job seeking, graduates. The college has thus far contributed around 5700 well-trained graduates to the human resource pool of agriculture and allied sectors. Many alumni of the college have risen to exalted positions and gained recognition both at national and international levels.
The department strives to achieve its mission through its team of highly competent and well-qualified faculty members for teaching all agricultural subjects Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, Entomology, Vegetable Science, Agriculture Extension, Floriculture & Landscaping, Forestry, Fruit Science, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Plant Pathology and Agricultural Meteorology. Subjects of Agricultural Engineering and Animal Husbandry are taught in practical manner under guidance of their respective instructors.
Facilities available in the department
The Campus for Research and Advanced Studies Dhablan of GSSDGS Khalsa College Patiala have 18 Acre agriculture farm with fully equipped laboratories, smart classrooms and various agricultural field equipment’s such as Mahindra Tractor, Disc harrow, Cultivator, Leveller, Power tiller tractor, Seed Drill, Seed Processing Unit, various instruments related to Agro-climatology filed observatory, well equipped Soil Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Entomology. Medicinal and aromatic Garden, Floriculture Garden, Vegetable Garden and Organic Manure Production Unit etc. We have other agriculture farm of 35.5 Acre at Campus for Research and Advanced studies, Bhadurghar, Patiala.
Exposure provided to the students through Educational visits and tours
Department is focusing on imparting practical experience to students through practical demonstration, projects in field and laboratory as well as through various academic field visits to various places having concern with the different fields of agriculture such as International Flora-Expo Exhibitions, National Livestock Championships, Kisan Melas, Doppler Weather Radar, Botanical/Floriculture Green House, Poly Houses, Veterinary Polyclinics, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Industry visits to various Agro Based Industries, Farm Power machinery companies to make them aware regarding latest technologies followed and implemented at professional level. Students admitted in M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy) and M. Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Vegetable Science) courses get every possible resource and guidance for learning the basics of conducting research trials and understanding about technical farming.

PG Programmes
- M. Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy) (2 Year Course-Semester System)
Agriculture has been at the centre of human civilization since the beginning of civilization. Post Graduate Department of Agriculture aims to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical aspects of various streams under Agricultural Sciences. The Department offers professional courses such as M. Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy).
PROGRAMME OUTCOME (PO) I: After passing master degree course students have further teaching and research studies option. They can also become agricultural scientist who can also work as consultants to business firms, private clients or to the government. The candidate can also pursue for Doctorate Programme.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSO) I: The student will learn the advance knowledge of their particular subjects and they learn about how to conduct research in agriculture field particularly to the field crops.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSO) II: The student will conduct their research experiment in the field and get knowledge about the data analysis related to agriculture field.
Eligibility: The candidate should have passed the Four years Bachelor's degree [B.Sc. (Agriculture)/ B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.)] with at least 50% marks in the aggregate for General category candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST/PH category candidates

Agriculture has been at the centre of human civilization since the beginning of civilization. Post Graduate Department of Agriculture aims to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical aspects of various streams under Agricultural Sciences. This course include subjects like Agronomy, Soil Science, Pomology, Olericulture, Floriculture, Agroforestry, Crop Physiology, Plant Breeding, Plant Protection, Agricultural Biochemistry, Agro-climatology, Agricultural Economics, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Statistics and Agricultural Extension etc.
Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)-I
- After Completion of B. Sc. Agriculture Ist year students have basic knowledge of agriculture and their particular subjects
- Course provide wide range of knowledge on various aspects of different spheres of the agriculture viz agronomy, horticulture, soil science, plant protection, agricultural extension and allied agricultural subjects.
- Course provides knowledge on concepts, tools and modern techniques and instruments for analysis of various components of agriculture and their management. Also enable to tackle various agricultural challenges in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner and educate students on Natural Resource Management for Sustainable Development.

- B. Voc. Agriculture (3 Year Course-Semester System)
B.Voc. (Agri Business and Agrarian Entrepreneurship) course is being run by the college under Deen Dayal Upadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra scheme of University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Agriculture and its allied activities are the mainstay of Indian Economy with around fifty percent of our population dependent upon it directly and indirectly for employment. The sector provides for commercial oppurtunities which helps escalating the growth of farmers/entrepreneurs. There are many job roles available from the ancillary industries like dairy, poultry, fishery, bee keeping, sericulture, piggery, shrimp, floriculture, horticulture etc.
